چکیده
disorder of unknown etiology, characterized by sclerotic skin and /or multisystem internal organ involvement. Severe secondary Raynaud’s phenomenon due to vasospasm and intimal proliferation in small vessels frequently leads to digital ulceration and ischemia. Internal organ manifestations variably involve the gastrointestinal, renal, cardiac, and pulmonary systems. Neurological symptoms are uncommon but include myopathy, cranial neuropathies, peripheral neuropathy and, rarely, myelopathy1,2. Cerebrovascular symptoms are particularly rare and usually attributed to complications of renal or cardiopulmonary disease2. We describe a patient with systemic sclerosis who presented with cerebral and ocular ischemic symptoms and occlusive disease involving multiple large vessels at the base of the neck.

A challenging entity: multiple sclerosis or collagen tissue disorders: A case series of 6 patients
Background: Multiple sclerosis and other demyelinating processes are sometimes difficult to differentiate from the neurological involvement in autoimmune diseases. Distinguishing multiple sclerosis from other lesions due to autoimmune diseases is crucial to avoid unsuitable or delayed treatments. Methods: Charts of 6 patients diagnosed with mimicking multiple sclerosis between 1996 and 2014 we...
متن کاملMigraine, memory loss, and "multiple sclerosis ". Neurological features of the antiphospholipid (Hughes') syndrome.
The antiphospholipid syndrome (APS, Hughes' syndrome), first described in 1983, is a prothrombotic disease in which neurological events feature prominently. Strokes, transient ischaemic attacks, and headaches (including migraine) are important complications. However, it is clear that other neurological symptoms, including diplopia, memory loss, ataxia, and "multiple sclerosis-like" features are...

متن کاملMacrovascular involvement in systemic sclerosis: evidence of correlation with disease activity.
OBJECTIVES Systemic sclerosis (SSc) is considered as a systemic disease which mainly affects small vessels. However, macrovascular involvement in SSc is still elusive in literature. Our study is to evaluate the macrovascular involvement in SSc patient and its association with atherosclerosis, disease activity and other factors. METHODS Forty-eight SSc patients were studied; 46 healthy people ...
متن کاملCerebrospinal fluid from multiple sclerosis patients inactivates neuronal Na+ current.
Multiple sclerosis is a common inflammatory disease of the CNS. A great number of immunologically active molecules have been identified in the CSF of these patients (CSF-MS), but the role of these substances in neuronal dysfunction, especially in the origin of transient symptoms, is unclear. Therefore, we investigated the effect of CSF from 13 multiple sclerosis patients on membrane currents of...
